ttatog back again with another media related discussion.
november 21 2008 harry potter and the half blood prince hits theaters after number 5 last summer truly rocked the box office.
december 12 2008 twilight, a movie based off of the new hit book series hits theaters targeting roughly the same audience as harry potter.
the question is: who will win? will daniel radcliff lead the largest movie franchise in history to another successful flick? or will the new series twilight truly be the next harry potter?
fans of both series have been eagerly battling each other arguing back and forth with thousands of video blogs and skits. now its time for wajigma perspective.
if you recall in 2005 the book series eragon made a movie. at the time the same rumors were floating around. Eragon the book was an enormous hit and people began to question harry potters monopoly over the young adults book market. but unfortunately it was never meant to be, the movie crashed and was followed by a good but not ground breaking sequel “eldest”.
so im predicting that twilight will experience the same failure. the series has only been out for 2 years and i feel like they are jumping the gun a little bit. there are no truly spectacular actors in this film, robert pattison playing the main character edward cullen. now if you recall this isnt the first time this actor has gone head to head against daniel radcliff, he also played cedric digory in harry potter and the goblet of fire.
i must say that the odds do not look good for twilight but, please prove me wrong keep the discussion going.
ttatog out
GYA here, I agree that they may have jumped the gun, but I feel that the reason Eragon failed as a film was because the book had no original ideas in it, and therefore when it was made a movie, people complained that they were seeing a Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and Earthsea takeoff. The movie didn’t follow the book enough, and it kept everything that was copied from other books (not hard). However, Twilight is an original story, and the question will be will it feel like an original movie. It has potential, but rushed potential.
This youtube video got so popular (3.3 million views), Discovery Channel is actually making a 1-hour special on it.
How awesomly cool is that? It just goes to show that anyone can become famous through the internet, even a guy who gets lucky in Africa and happens to have a camera on him.
Over the past couple years America has seen an influx of superhero movies. Superman Returns, Spiderman (1, 2, and 3), The Fantastic Four (1, did anyone see 2 for a reason other than to see Jessica Alba in a skin-tight suit?), Batman Begins, and more.
More or less, all of them have been average, or far below. Maybe Batman Begins and Superman Returns a little above, but overall, none of them were great.
Here comes Iron Man (trailer/preview below, waiting for Black Sabbath to stop playing in your head, and perhaps on air guitar because it’s just that awesome), and I have to say, they’ve finally got it right. They have captured true character, while staying true to it’s comic book roots. Not to mention the fact that the action scenes rock. I don’t know how to say it, but Iron Man is the first superhero/comic book movie that has it. What is it? Like I said there’s no way to express it, but it’s defanitally there. A must see.
hello guys this that and the other guy here, i unlike my wordy friend over there am gonna keep this short and simple. if you havent seen this movie see it. if u dont have money sneak in, if uve seen it allready see it again. trust me ull love it
but for a real review robert downey jr. plays tony stark, a world renown weapons manufacturer who besides creating the sickest home computer system ever also can smooth talk even the toughest of women.
but if that wasnt enough this movie has all but not limited to: a genius little indian man running through a cave gunning down terrorists, a fight between a flying robot guy talking on his cell phone and 2 fighter jets, a fire extinguisher with attitude, a guy getting pulled through solid cement, and oh yeah IRON MAN!!!!!!!
with a combination of guns, robots, women, explosions and spectacular acting i can safely say this is the best movie ive seen all year. (p.s. stay after the credits)
